The End of the "Messy Decorator"

Preparation is the absolute key to any premium, long-lasting paint finish. Traditionally, this meant hours of manual hand-sanding on walls, ceilings, and woodwork, creating massive clouds of white, toxic dust. This dust would find its way behind doors, inside electrical sockets, onto your upholstery, and deep into your carpets.

We have invested thousands of pounds in state-of-the-art Mirka and Festool dust extraction systems. Our professional orbital and random-orbit sanders are coupled directly to certified HEPA class-M industrial vacuums. The second the sanding pad touches the plaster, the dust is sucked away through hundreds of tiny holes, protecting your home, your family, and our lungs.

Key Benefits of Dust-Free Preparation

  • Healthier Home Environment

Indispensable for allergy sufferers, asthmatics, children, and pets. It prevents fine silica plaster particles and lead paint particles from suspending in the air.

  • No Post-Project Cleanup Hassle

No need to hire professional cleaners or spend your weekends wiping down cabinets, bookshelves, and electronic devices.

  • A Superior Glass-Like Finish

Because the mesh sanding pads are constantly kept clear of debris, they score and level the plaster uniformly, avoiding deep scratches and resulting in perfectly flat walls and trim.

How It Works: Mesh Abrasive Technology

We don't use standard sandpaper. Standard sandpaper quickly clogs up with dust, rendering it useless and causing scratches on the plaster. We use premium Mirka Abranet mesh abrasives.

1. Thousands of Tiny Holes

Instead of a solid paper backing, the abrasive is a net-like structure. Plaster dust is pulled through the thousands of microscopic mesh holes directly into the vacuum pad.

2. Class-M HEPA Extraction

Our extractors use multi-stage HEPA filters to trap 99.9% of microscopic dust particles, exhaustively cleaning the air before venting it back into the room.

3. Better for Health & Cleanliness

Sanding dust contains respirable silica which can irritate lungs. Our method ensures zero dust exposure for your family, pets, and our team.

FAQ

Dust-Free Sanding FAQs

Is it really 100% dust-free?

While no mechanical process can be 100% dust-free, our systems are certified to capture 99.9% of airborne particles. A tiny amount of heavy dust might fall directly under the sander, but it is instantly captured and never becomes airborne or circulates through your home's air currents.

Do you still cover furniture with plastic sheets?

Yes, absolutely. Even though our sanders collect 99.9% of dust, we still adhere to strict preparation protocols. We cover all furniture, floors, and personal items with static-charged plastic sheeting and heavy-duty drop cloths as a redundant layer of protection.

Does dust-free sanding cost extra?

No. We believe that a clean working environment and a superior finish should be the standard, not an upsell. Dust-free preparation is included in all our estimates for interior walls, ceilings, and trim preparation at no additional cost.

Is the sanding extraction equipment very loud?

No, our Festool and Mirka dust extractors are professionally sound-insulated. They run at approximately 60-70 decibels, which is no louder than a standard domestic vacuum cleaner.

Why do many other decorators still sand by hand?

Investing in high-end, professional dust extraction equipment (like the Mirka DEROS and Festool Cleantec line) costs thousands of pounds per kit. Many independent decorators prefer to stick to traditional hand blocks, which is slower, creates a toxic environment, and yields an inferior finish compared to mechanical orbital sanding.
